The Way I See Art: An Interview with Sergio Manzari
January 11, 2022
K: How does your work comment on current social and political issues?
Sergio: It doesn't. Is not intended to. My work is meant to exist outside day to day concerns. I have a sign on my studio door that says: " Here I brush off my soul the dust of everyday's life " A picasso's quote that fits me perfectly.

K: What your work aim to say?
Sergio: Simply put my work is just an expression of what I see and feel.
I pursue no intentions, no directions, I have no programs, no style, no mission. I try to express a feeling or paint a picture of something that I have seen and what moved me. That's all.

K:
In the past you have shown to be quite hesitant to talk about your work. Specially about the meaning and intention behind your abstract forms.
can you share the motives?
Sergio:
To talk about painting is difficult and perhaps pointless. you can express in words what words can express. Only what language can communicate. In my opinion, painting has nothing to do with that. My work incorporates undefined elements open to interpretation. It means different things to different people. I like to offer the freedom to see what you see. your interpretation is just as important as my vision. therefore I am hesitant to talk excessively about if it may interfere with your freedom of interpretation.
